Case Study Overview
South Devon Chilli Farm produce award-winning products from their own-grown chillis. Steve's labelling requirements were ...
- A compact machine - limited space
- To label a range of different shaped glass containers
- PVC capsule application & lot marking
We supplied, installed and commissioned an STS automatic labelling machine.
South Devon Chilli Farm produce a range of award-winning sauces, preserves and chocolate from their 10 tonne harvest of chillis grown on their 10 acre farm. Praised by Jamie Oliver and Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall, their products are now available in over 600 farm shops and delis across the country. The company has featured on BBC Gardeners World and BBC Countryfile.
Co-owner, Steve Waters, required a compact automatic labelling machine to apply self-adhesive labels to a range of different glass containers, including cylindrical jars and bottles, a small square bottle (front and back labels) and a hexagonal jar (label on three sides). He also required the option of automatic PVC shrink capsule application and lot marking on the labels.
We supplied, installed and commissioned an S2/Zeta automatic linear labelling machine with change parts to accommodate the range of different containers to label.
Feedback
'We asked several suppliers for quotes and most machines offered were either too large, too expensive or could not perform the full range of functions.
Vigo offered a compact machine that performed all the functions. All we had to do was send samples of our bottles and labels to Vigo and only ten weeks later a bespoke machine was delivered and installed by the Vigo engineers.
The flexibility of operation and small footprint of the machine was important to us.
The installation of this machine has enabled us to dramatically increase production and reduce labour costs at the same time.
Consistent label application has improved the presentation of our product.'
