These crown cap gauges are used for quality control during the capping phase of production to ensure that the crown cap has been adequately applied to the bottle.

Application

Guide for use:

Gauge for 26mm crowns:

If the applied cap doesn’t fit in the PASS hole, it is under-crimped
If the applied cap fits through the PASS hole – correct application
If the applied cap also fits through the NOMINAL hole – capper may need adjusting as it is nearing over crimping
If the applied cap also fits through the FAIL hole – cap is over-crimped
